Just 10 days to go before SocialSource 2005...

Programme for SocialSource 2005

A programme is in place at EventProgramme, featuring introductions for those who have had no hands-on contact with Free/Open Source Software (F/OSS), case studies, and details of projects going on within the sector using F/OSS tools.

Attending

The event will be free to attend thanks to the support of the ICT Hub. However, we would appreciate a mail if you are intending to come, to get an idea of numbers for the day, especially as we're hoping to provide lunch. Get in touch via ContactUs, where you can also sign-up to an announcements list to stay in touch.

Venue

The venue has been fixed as City Temple Conference Centre on Holborn Viaduct in London - see EventLocation for details.

Look forward to seeing you there...

October 2005

SocialSource 2005 will be taking place on Wednesday 9 November 2005 in London. See the event's homepage for more details - programme details and the location are still being finalised.

The day will aim to replicate the look, feel and atmosphere of last year's event, and build on the evident enthusiasm generated by the day. Attendees from all levels of involvement with Open Source are welcome (e.g. from those who don't even know what it is, to those already actively supporting implementations).

The format will again feature plain-english talks and case studies from those based in the sector, whilst also showing the richness of the Open Source community with participants from support companies, the education sector and the National Computing Centre.

This year's event is supported by the ICT Hub

If you have questions about the event, please use the Contact Us form, and sign up to the announcements list to be kept updated.

Look forward to seeing you on the day!

June 2005

Our next event has now been fixed for November 2005 and will take place immediately after this year's UK Riders conference.

May 2005 - women's Linux Tech Carnival

Genderchangers will be holding their annual Eclectic Tech Carnival in Graz, Austria, for women who use or want to use Linux. Free or low-cost accommodation and food available. More details and registration form at their website. All women welcome from beginners to experienced FLOSS users.

February 2005

Ideas for 2005 for this initiative include:
  • broadening participation in the initiative by starting a discussion list / web forum
  • holding more regular, informal meetings for those interested to discuss / learn about OSS issues
  • further development of the wiki /web resource
  • another event, perhaps along the lines of last year's "Come and See Day"

Got any more ideas? - Contact the organisers, or post them on the wiki.
